My goodness, it doesn’t seem possible that five years have passed since I first arrived at Union Mission to serve the Lord. It is always a privilege to walk through the doors of this fine place; I always feel the presence of the Lord when I enter the building. I look forward to seeing the staff and working with them each day. I rejoice in the opportunity to be around the men God has sent to us through our Men’s Program. On Food Co-op weeks it is a delight to see smiling faces of our Co-op members as they come to their meetings at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I receive the blessing of friendships with our Co-op members.
I am thankful to the business community for the friendships we have developed over the years. Their words of encouragement to me have blessed me; even when I can’t pay their bill that is past due. My serving as Executive Director has blessed me personally. I have developed a deeper relationship with our Lord and have learned and grown in my faith. Finally my blessings continue to grow as I interact with my colleagues in the different churches throughout the Roanoke Valley. From these spiritual leaders I have witnessed Christ in action as I see them responding to the call of God on their lives; leading their congregations to become involved in reaching out to “the least of these.”
Truly my heart and life have been blessed. I ask you to pray for us here at Union Mission. Our board and staff are facing challenges that we have not had to face in many years. I believe in the power of prayer and ask you to pray daily for your friends and neighbors at Union Mission.
In His Service,
LaCount L. Anderson
Executive Director
